"FACEPLOSION!!" - The Hybrid

“In his house at R’lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming” ~H.P. Lovecraft Hello hello! Come on in for another dose of The Art of Caesura! Easter’s just around the corner so happy hunting (for eggs, not bunnies!) Hope you enjoyed the last week’s musical interlude. At the end of last week’s post, I teased that I’d be painting up and showing off my favourite World of Smog mini this week. And well, here he / it is: The Hybrid "Sir Robert Ball, the Royal Astronomer, became the first listed victim of the celestial visitors when they began waking up. Pushed by a larval instinct that knew no humanity or morals, the creatures sought a living host to understand their environment..."              The World of Smog: On Her Majesty's Service I recently read H.P. Lovecraft’s complete works, and am currently consuming Alan Moore’s Providence , plus I just have a baseline love for Victorian Steam-punk Horror so, suffice to say, this guy pushes all

In the Band

Sometimes you have to leave your zone of safety, you have to manufacture Inspirado. You gotta get out of the apartment. You've got to run with the wolves. You have to dive into the ocean bite with the sharks, or sometimes just treat yourself to an ice cream sundae with nuts. Jack Black Hey guys and gals! Welcome back to The Art of Caesura, Rome was magnificent! We just arrived back the other day – in time for St. Paddy’s Day! After introducing you to some of my music-making pals last week, this week I want to share some of the music that’s been made with some truly wonderful people along the way. I’m afraid this is going to be a bit of a random little collection of songs I still have access to. There’s always a bunch of stuff hidden on some old CDs or laptop somewhere, but I found a few ditties on my old iPod to give your ears a taste. My main band experience was throughout my undergrad, I co-founded and played and sang in an Irish Folk-Punk band

"Aweary of this Great World" - Guitars

I love the sound of the trees in the breeze.  If the forest is so clearly musical,  why can’t it play the guitar while I sing Nirvana covers? Jarod Kintz, This Book is Not FOR SALE Hey everyone, welcome back to another session of The Art of Caesura! I hope you’ve all had a good week and are hanging up the shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day next Thursday! I’m heading to Rome in the morning for a few days which I’m super-excited about, but don’t worry I’ll be back in time for next week’s entry! This week I wanted to talk about another hobby of mine: we’ve been looking at miniatures , drinking some beer , and how about adding some guitar to the mix? Just to whet your appetite: Now, today I want to introduce you to two of my pals and the stories behind them: Portia and Vlad. My parents bought Portia for me when I graduated from my undergrad. Her name came about because, from the body shape she’s clearly female, and with the Florentine cut (t

"A Death-Black Shadow" - Shadow Master

There’s a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in. Anthem , Leonard Cohen Salutations, and welcome to another episode of The Art of Caesura! Boy, what a week! Filled with wedding venue viewing awesomeness and exam un-awesomeness. Nice to be back here. Since I first started pouring through the lore behind the game The World of Smog , I’ve been captivated by the character of The Shadow Master . I guess after four posts on this game I should tell you a bit more about it. It’s set in the late 1800’s in the standard Alternate-Victorian era to which most steam-punk identifies. Vikki’s jubilee is coming up and all of the gentlemen’s clubs (read gathering places for like-minded avant-garde aristocrats; as opposed to strip clubs) vie to increase their reputation by electing a member to get the Queen the best pressies for her party. Obviously the most sought-after artifacts, things like Mithril rings and Atlantean keys, are only available at the mysterious and nef
