The Hungering Darkness V. 2.0

A terrifying, inhuman spectre of monstrous size,  the Mourngul attacks with its nightmarishly  elongated claws and distended fangs  in a frenzied hunger for flesh and souls. Forgeworld Website Hey team! Welcome back to The Art of Caesura! Last week I ended with quite a claim, and this week we'll start the grand reveal... Ever since I bought Jakob Lynch and his gang (which was actually ages ago) I'd been planning how I would paint them. You've now seen Jakob , The Hungering Darkness , and one of The Illuminated , and I guess I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. But the one thing that left me unsettled was that I didn't really feel that the model of The Hungering Darkness lived up to his name. I felt he looked more larval than omnipotent and that's how I painted him.  When I was thinking about this, I had a brain wave of a miniature that I had seen ages ago that totally fit the lore and tone of what I would imagine The Hunge

"Slave to Darkness" - Jakob Lynch

Eventually, as he knew it would,  Lynch's curiosity got the better of him and he slipped down into the basement  to see what it was that had changed his business so greatly.  That was when his mind was opened to the truth:  there was a terrible creature in his basement  that was the source of all his success... Wyrd Website Greetings fellow Caesurians, and welcome back to another week of The Art of Caesura! This time of year is a big one in my current neck of the woods, The Rose of Tralee festival is on and the craic is brilliant. ...And speaking of brilliance...a few weeks ago I painted Huggy D (The Hungering Darkness) a demon who exerts it's will through a gambling bar owner Jakob Lynch, using him to peddle the drug Brilliance to possess other poor saps who become The Illuminated . The miniature of Jakob Lynch is an interesting one because he's a relatively normal looking guy (if a bit sleezy with his goatee and grey suit and all) b

Brewing Beer...With a Vengeance!

Is deacair amhran a radh gan gloine.  (It's hard to sing with an empty glass.) ~ Irish Proverb Hey guys, time for more beer brewing on The Art of Caesura! So, I was actually smart this time and started brewing my current beer before I had finished off the last one ( Nightwatchman Porter ), not as much lag-time between brews, Yipeeee! This time I'm bringing myself back to my beer-drinking stomping grounds and brewing an American Pale Ale. And, no, Canada is not part of America, but many of the pale ales made in Canada that we drink on the West Coast of Canada are in that style. Take Blue Buck , por ehemplo. This one's called Columbus Ale, and I've just finished bottling it, so it'll be ready in 3 weeks or so.  When you start a new brew you have to make the nice sugary, agary liquid for the yeast to thrive in. With these brews you add 3L of boiling water to the malt to get cracking. Usually I have a 3L milk carton that I san

"Woof woof Squawk!" - Gryph-Hound

Dogs acted as humans' alarm systems,  trackers and hunting aides, garbage disposal facilities, hot water bottles,  and children's guardians and playmates. Humans provided dogs with food and security... Humans domesticated dogs, and dogs domesticated humans. Colin Groves, Australian National University Hey Dudes and Dudettes welcome to The Art of Caesura,  Hope you're boiling away in the middle of your summers (for our Northern Hemisphere readers) and not freezing too badly for our Southern Hemisphere vis-a-vis. Give a thought to us poor sods in the South-West of Ireland who have literally had 4 days of summer this year and are starting to crack up! This week is a little different. It's time to give a bit of attention to our canine compadres. I painted up the gryph-hound from Silver Tower. I know that I should really be showing off this model with his human companion - the Excelsior Warpriest. But...well I moved on to something else before I pa
