"Cree-ee-eepy Crawlers" - Conan Scorpion and Spider

Why spiders? Why couldn't it be 'follow the butterflies' - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Happy Hallowe'en on The Art of Caesura! In addition to Hallowe'en, another exciting occurrence this week was I passed my first 100 followers on Instagram. It's a platform that I've only gotten into in the past couple of weeks  (I know, I sound so old!) , and I think it'll be handy to post pics during the week (but don't worry, I'll still post everything here)!  I'll try to fashion a link at the bottom of the page, but in the meantime: You can click here Remember this!? I LOVED mine! I remember they even released glow-in-the-dark and edible goop. Man, those were the days when you could give a kid an oven as a toy! Anyway, that's not the creepy crawlers we're talking about today... I've been saving this post for a while to have it correspond with Hallowe'en. We're going to capitalize on many peo

"One Scalpel Short of a Medpack" - Mad Dok Grotsnik

Mad Dok Grotsnik is the most extreme of all the Ork Doks.  Orks go to him for the best experimental augmentations  and to be given cybork bodies and implants... ~ Games Workshop Welcome back to another week of 40k on The Art of Caesura! Funny that in the year and three quarters of having this blog I haven't had any Warhammer 40k posts until now. And now, just like the Mad Dok himself, I've managed to cobble together three weeks in the Grim Darkness! Today's post is a bit different though. Two weeks ago we looked at one of the new Primaris Marines - hot off the press. Last week we checked out an updated paint job on a sentimental model, but this week it's all about da greenskinz! Another great find from the basement box! Long time readers know that I love my orcs, orruks and uruks. But this is the first "Space Ork" I've painted. I was actually surprised at how much detail is on this blighter! From the rivets to t

"No Matter the Odds" - The Emperor's Champion

It is the duty and honour of the Emperor's Champion  to seek out the champions of the enemy  and challenge them to single combat.  Few can stand before such a heroic warrior. ~ Games Workshop Welcome All to the Art of Caesura! Last week's teaser for this week "back to the future" shall now be revealed to have multiple layers of significance: we are bringing our attention back to the futur istic world of the 41st millennium, but I also brought a model that I painted a few years ago, back up to modern day.  So, after that cryptic intro, what are we actually talking about? Well only one of my favourite models: The Emperor's Champion! The first miniature that my then fiance (now wife!) bought for me was the "modern" (current) version of the Emperor's Champion. In my youth I'd painted the metal model (the one holding the Black Sword in both hands) and had always admired the heroic pose of today's model.  I origi

"The Grim Darkness" - Black Templars Intercessor Marine

War was always here.  Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade  awaiting its ultimate practitioner. Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West - Cormac McCarthy Hello one and all, and welcome to The Art of Caesura! We're sticking with the 41st millennium today to look at a prime specimen of a Space Marine. Long time readers might know that my 40k loyalties lie with The Black Templars. I had a huge army: Land Raider Crusaders, attack bikes, The Emperor's Champion (one of my favorite models ever) even a librarian (and for those in the know, that was a huge no-no amongst this fanatical chapter, but the model was just too cool).  When the new Primaris Marines released the other month, I knew I wanted to give 'em a whirl, and the choice of chapter was an obvious one! I know that in the lore these Primaris Marines are shiny and knew, but being covered in purity seals and scraps of cloth and the like are so characteristic of Black
