A Brand New Year!

Hey Everyone! Welcome to the New Year post on The Art of Caesura! I hope you're having a lovely holiday season - all bundled by the fire (or out on the beach, depending on your hemisphere!). Christmas has just past and it's only a few days till New Year - where did this year go!? Long time Caesurians will know that I like to save the annual retrospective for the blog's birthday in a couple weeks, so today we'll look ahead at some of the exciting miniatures we'll be exploring in 2019.  I'm happy to say that I managed to paint something from every big boxed game that I got this past year. I also managed to finish off painting all of the models from Silver Tower and am just about done the last few busts from The World of Smog: On Her Majesty's Service, I even started my Kharadron Overlords army with a bang. But before I get too comfortable on my laurels, there's still loads of The World of Smog: Rise of Moloch, Zombicide: Green Horde, Necromunda

"To the Victor the Spoils" - Brokk Grungsson (Complete)

Brokk Grungsson strives on,  hungry for ever-more success and recognition  – his natural aeronautical abilities  and aggressive nature mean these successe s  are rarely far from his grasp. - Games Workshop Good to have you again on The Art of Caesura! I hope you're enjoying the winter festivities wherever you may be! I built up today's model quite a bit in last week's post, but I really am proud of how this guy turned out. I'll keep my prattling to a minimum this week because I took about a million pictures (and if each one is worth a thousand words, then jeez, this is going to take a while!) First some artsy shots... This was a fantastic model to paint! I knew I wanted to make him special, and I thought the base was a fun way for him to really stand out! I've never been a fan of flying bases - I think they break the immersion - so having him battling a sea-monster seemed like a good alternative. If you want to check out the construc

"A Dashing Dirigible" - Brokk Grungsson (Painting)

Brokk Grungsson is a powerful duardin,  and before his enemies die,  he wants them to know it... - Games Workshop Welcome one and all to The Art of Caesura! This post is the first of a two-parter to build some hype for next week's post...oooh mysterious! My wife kicked off my new Kharadron Overlords army by getting me a few key pieces last year, one of which was Brokk Grungsson the Lord-Magnate himself! I built him (in sub-assemblies) almost immediately, but waited on painting him until I had a few rank and file Arkanauts  under my belt so that I could get used to the colour scheme.  I also wanted to be able to lavish loads of time on this guy, so I've been working away on him in the background. I actually finished him a while ago after a good month or so of highly HIGHLY enjoyable painting and have been dying to unveil him - now, before Christmas, seemed like a good time! I only have a few pictures (of his dirigible) today, because I didn't wa
