"Sobek's Curse" - The Canopic Beast

" Thou livest upon that which Ra lives. " - Sir Edward Budge Welcome back to The Art of Caesura! We're picking up from last week, and looking at more creepy characters (or creatures) from The World of Smog: Rise of Moloch. This week we have The Canopic Beast! This image belongs to CMoN A mummified zombie crocodile!! How cool is that!? This was a great model to paint, something of a study in washes.  I started by painting the whole model in Steel Legion Drab, a nice neutral brown. This provided the perfect base for both the skin and the wrappings. From here I washed the skin with a mix of Agrax Earthshade and Biel-Tan Green (about 1:2) with a bit of Lahmian Medium, to help it really pull out the details.  After a few thin coats of this wash, I started on the wrappings. I painted them Ushabti Bone and then washed them heavily with Agrax.  Now came the fun part of picking out the details! Something I've really noticed sinc

"And for My Next Trick..."- The Prestigious Cabinet

Once a tool use by vampires to capture their prey and drain them of vital essences, the newly named 'Prestigious Cabinet' has been refinished in the finest wood and granted the appearance of a grand coffin. The dark magician uses the Prestigious Cabinet to capture unwitting 'volunteers' and steal  them away in the midst of his performances. CMoN It's all Hocus Pocus today on The Art of Caesura! We're going to leave Silver Tower and The Underhive for a little while and dive into a few weeks covering a Kickstarter that I backed last year: The World of Smog: Rise of Moloch.  Now you guys have heard me wax lyrical about The World of Smog many many times in the past , so all I'll say is that it is that it is as if the setting was designed with my specific interests in mind! It's a Horror-steampunky alternated history in Victorian London. Isn't it great when you find a game / film / book / band that completely speaks to yo

"Telling Our Tale" - Conquering the Silver Tower

...The Summoner faded from sight, leaving only his echoing laughter, and a glowing portal leading on into the Silver Tower's labyrinthine depths. ~ Games Workshop , Silver Tower Adventure Book  Welcome to another special Friday on The Art of Caesura! Today I have a special post for you guys! When I finished painting up all the wonderful miniatures in Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower I assured you that that wasn't going to be the end of the Silver Tower coverage on The Art of Caesura. Well, this week I want to tell you about our grand conclusion to our Silver Tower campaign. With busy lives, we've been playing this campaign with the same characters on and off for about a year and a half, so it really felt like a dramatic conclusion! So inspired was I by my play through of Silver Tower, that I did some research into its making. I've popped some of my thoughts and findings at the end of this post.  Before we move on, the final trial is filled with edge-of-you

"I Will Break You" - Renegade Ogryn Berserker

Ogryn Berserkers are Ogryns corrupted by Khornate Chaos Warbands,  driven insane by bloodlust and evolving into ferocious  and bloodthirsty beasts. Similar to Khorne Berzerkers,  these creatures were lobotomized  and injected with a powerful combat drug known as "Slaught". ~ 1d4chan Well hello again friends of the Caesura! It's another beautiful Friday in my corner of the world and there's a great festival this weekend, so if you're in this neck of the woods (South-West Ireland) come check it out! Before our Full Stop look at Hellboy last week ( the Kickstarter is over ONE MILLION EURO) we spent the previous two weeks tiptoeing through the empty halls of Hive Primus on Necromunda, now it's time to populate them! Now, this model isn't technically from Necromunda, but as soon as I saw him, I felt like his aesthetic just so fit this setting.  The model is  Forge World's Renegade Ogryn Berserker (with post)  - such a cool mo
