"Chanters of Change" - Kairic Acolytes

Marked by the Changer of Ways for their  cunning and devotion, these warrior cultists fight with  blade, sorcery and terrifying zeal. Games Workshop It's Friday! Time for The Art of Caesura! This week's offering is one that I have actually been working on over the past two weeks, but rather than show you a work in progress shot last week, I decided to just lay 'em all on you at once this week. Unleash the Kairic Acolytes! This is going to be a photo-intensive post this week because each of these models is actually quite an individual. The detailed musculature on these models is some of the best I've seen, and I really think the matte finish of the Scale 75 Flesh paints did the skin tones justice.  Please click on the images to see them in all their High-def glory!   I kept the skin fairly pale, avoiding ruddy skin tones that might hint at a bit too much cheery vitality!   I'm also still getting used to the new (for me) gem

"A Fellow of Infinite Jest" - Pug

Alas, poor Yorick... Hamlet - Shakespeare Welcome back to another Friday on The Art of Caesura! Here we are with Pug, the third set of the Gaunt Summoner's familiars from Silver Tower (after Blot and Slop ). He's got the classic "Moonhead of Tzeench," a look that, while nostalgic for some, I've never been a huge fan of.  I do, however, like how he has been modernized by holding a Stormcast Eternal helm (head?) in a very "Hamlet gravedigger pose." The Shakespearean connection goes further, because Yorick was the court jester.  When I started painting this guy I had just bought one of the new "gem paints" (Soulstone Blue) and wanted to see how they fared in applications for which they were not intended. I wanted to paint this guy's moonhead in a style sympathetic to his bizarre form - that is a style that was equally bizarre. I painted this little guy's skin green and then painted over all the green

"Rat-folk of the Silver Tower" - Skaven Deathrunner

This cunning murderer has been  dispatched to the battlefield on a mission of assassination. By poisoned blade and shadow magic  does he strike down his mark. Games Workshop An assassin is loose this week on The Art of Caesura! For those of you who haven't played Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower...do so now. For the rest of you, you'll likely know all about the model (or models) I got painted this week. In the game, the Skaven Deathrunner is like a mini-boss. He has a million wounds and can make an illusory version of himself to really push your poop in.  Usually I like to paint multiples of the same model differently, but because these models were supposed to be identical illusion of each other, I tried to make them as similar as possible. Okay, one of the many things I loved about Silver Tower was the massive variety of models it came with. I mean, I never really thought I'd have an opportunity to paint a Skaven model, but here it is...bot

Faramir is bold, more bold than many may deem...

Praise from the praise-worthy is beyond all rewards. Faramir - The Two Towers - J.R.R. Tolkien What better way to bring in the weekend than with The Art of Caesura!? Firstly, I'd like to say a big "Happy Birthday!!" to my fiance! More than put up with my nerdisms - she encourages them! I'm a lucky man. Well friends,  I have bit of a randomer for you this week. Starting next week, I want to launch into a few weeks sticking to one topic (like we did with The World of Smog full-body miniatures back in February and March this year). Before we do that, I want to cram this guy in here that I just completed! Like those of the last couple weeks, this guy is one who recently emerged from an old box of my models that my parents found back in the old family home. Exciting when that happens! He's the younger brother of Boromir from The Lord of the Rings: Faramir! I know I didn't do his colours "right" (as in the colour scheme fro
