The Legend of Long Vøn - Kharadron Overlords Admiral

It takes success and tremendous profit  for a duardin to catapult themselve s  into the upper echelons of the airfleets,  and individuals that have done so  are battle-scarred veterans that have  seen countless wars, boarding actions  and aerial bombardments. - Games Workshop Hi-ho sailors! Welcome back to The Art of Caesura! My growing Sky-fleet already has Brokk Grungsson to guide it, but what about when he's off helping other Baraks? Enter the true leader of my Sky-fleet: Long Vøn. I had wanted to paint one of the single leader models for a while now -  especially after painting all the Thunderers at once! In game terms, I know that the Aether-Khemist is essential to any Kharadron Overlord army, and mine shall come, but first I wanted to paint the admiral. I mean look at that (skalf)hammer! The above picture is the admiral after washes and before any highlights. As for his name, Long Vøn, I'm starting to come up with a bit of lore

"Defenders of the Fleet" - Grundstok Thunderers (Special Weapons)

Their sealed suits of armour are covered in valves, pipes and respiratory systems used to make the air palatable to their aether-gold addled lungs. - Games Workshop It's another happy Friday here on The Art of Caesura! Last week we saw my Kharadron Overlord force expand with some powerful firepower in the form of aethershot rifles. This week I've added some special weaponry to my Thunderers. In my zeal and hobby enthusiasm, I clipped off all the bits before sticking them together (rather than building one mini at a time), and in the process (and then from moving house) seem to have lost the left arm of the dude with the Aetheric Fumigator (the guy with the weed-killer spray gun). Before I converted a new arm, I wanted to have a good look for the old one, but that meant that he got left in the dust of the other special weapon guys.  The names of their weapons (as is often the case in Warhammer) are quite confounding! Take this first guy for example

"Such Sweet Thunder" - Grundstok Thunderers (aethershot rifles)

Circa Regna tonat  - It thunders around the realm - Sir Thomas Wyatt Welcome all to the next installment of The Art of Caesura! This week we're heading back to the Mortal Realms (or above them as the case may be) to look at the next unit that I have completed for my slowly growing Kharadron Overlords army: Grundstok Thunderers!   These 5 are all equipped with aethershot rifles, but if you stay tuned next week, you may just see some special weapons cropping up! I was originally going to magnitise all of them (their shoulder joints are certainly chunky enough) but the aether-cord that attaches their aether rifles to their aether-backpacks made this idea a bit aether-awkward. If I decide to magnetize some in the future, I would probably have to clip this cord off first. There are a few big differences between these guys and the Arkanauts that I painted previously: firstly these Thunderers are on 32mm bases which left more room for bigger stones on the

"On the Road Again" - Moving House

To unpathed waters, undreamed shores Winter's Tale - Shakespeare Hi All, welcome back to The Art of Caesura! Today we'll pause to cleanse our collective palates from The World of Smog to have a quick look at my recent move of house! Rather than enthrall you with my domiciliary departure, I thought I would focus more on how I moved my many minis. Sorry for the blurry photos...such was the speed of my moving... Man, for such mini minis they sure take up a lot of space!! Long time readers will know that I am more of a "paint and display" kind of guy rather than taking an army over to the local gaming store (my "local" is two and a half hours away). Point being, I only have one army case that my aunt made me years ago - it proved to be SUPER useful for my Kharadron Overlords on their wave bases. We were only moving an hour and a quarter away, so I didn't really want to invest in cases just for the move.  Luckily all of my pai
