Magh Meall

Stop the press! I have a huge announcement to make today! Welcome to the first post since the blog turned eight years old last week! If you didn't get a chance to join in the party last week, you can check out the festivities here . But, if you can believe it, I have even bigger news to share with you today... My third child was born last week - two and a half weeks ahead of "schedule" - she just couldn't wait to join us, and already, we can't imagine life without her! Welcome to the world, baby Isla! See you next week on The Art of Caesura!

HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!

Come one, come all, to the EIGHTH birthday celebration for The Art of Caesura! When I started this blog , I had no idea that it would having the staying power to still be here eight years later. But I have found that my enjoyment of creating the blog has only grown with time! I certainly have less time to devote to the blog than I did in the pre-kid era, but I have found ways to continue to make it what I want it to be, to be relevant for me, and (I hope) enjoyable for you! Let's kick this party off in the time-honoured manner that the best parties are kicked off: with an infographic featuring cutsie pastel anthropomorphized sea creatures. Yes, I really outdid myself this year! Let's slow down for a moment and take a more reflective look at what's been going on over the past year.  For anyone keeping score, there have been 416 Fridays in the past eight years...but there have been 421 blog posts. That means that I've never missed a Friday, and 5 times I released TWO blog

Come away, O, human child! To the woods and waters wild, With a fairy hand in hand, For the world’s more full of weeping  than you can understand. - W.B. Yeats Greetings and salutations and welcome back to The Art of Caesura! Today, we're taking a closer look at the completed Fae from Descent: Legends of the Dark - whom we first met in last week's post .  BUT  Even more exciting than that (sorry little guys), is that next week is the blog's EIGHTH BIRTHDAY! Can you believe it? No, no you cannot. Nor can I, nor anyone else for that matter. But that does not change the fact that it is true! So be sure to tune in then for our annual party in celebration of 2023 on The Art of Caesura! Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.  I mentioned last week that these little Fae dudes painted up very quickly and easily for me. The airbrush is ideally suited to the colour blends that I envisioned on these guys. The other details (stars on their "wings", details on faces

"Away with the Fairies" - Descent: Legends of the Dark - Fae - Part 1

Come Fairies, take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind and dance upon the mountains like a flame. - W.B. Yeats Hello hello!! Welcome to 2024, and to a whole new year of The Art of Caesura, the internet's favourite weekly hobby blog* (your mileage may vary) It's been a rip-roaring season, what with many minis from the past year coming out to wish us well a few weeks ago , and then last week we had a little peak at some of the things that might be coming to the blog in the year ahead.  Today we're picking up right where we left off a few weeks ago - back into the realm of Terrinoth with more enemies from Descent: Legends of the Dark. Before we get into it, if you'd like to read some of my thoughts about this game and its aesthetic, you can check them out here .  The Fae in focus today, are some of the early enemies you meet in Descent and the miniatures are totally crazy! I have read many dissenters online (see what I did there) who aren&#
