"Unlocking the Universe" - Doctor Falconer - Part 2

Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change. - Dr. Stephen Hawking Welcome back to another Friday on The Art of Caesura! This Friday is a little bittersweet because my parents, who have been visiting from Canada for the past month and a half are leaving tomorrow. We've had such a wonderful time with them, and my kids have adored having them too! Now, let us turn our attentions back to Stephen Hawking...I mean Doctor Falconer, or Chief Engineer Boros, as he's known in my Space Station Zero crew.    In Space Station Zero, a Chief Engineer is a souped-up version of the Engineer who is only available to be taken on my ship type (Exploration vessel). He has +1 Intelligence and Reaction (both of which will be very useful for disabling bombs and any other tricks the Space Station might try to throw at me). To further improve his chances of success in these tests, he has an ability called "Bypass", which, once per challenge, allows him to reduce the target number on such a...

"Big Bang" - Doctor Falconer - Part 1

I'm an engineer. If it's not broken, I don't fix it.    B'elanna Torres (Voyager) If it's Friday, it's time for the The Art of Caesura! Hello fellow Caesurians, I hope you are well! While I show you these pictures of the Zombicide Invader minis that I'm using for my Space Station Zero crew, I'm secretly ferreting away on other exciting hobby projects that I can't wait to show you...but wait I must, for today we're looking at the very brilliant Doctor Falconer / Stephen Hawking / Chief Engineer Boros Another fun and characterful model from Zombicide Invader. The name this time is obvious (Dr HAWKing vs Dr FALCONer). With his super-smarts and souped-up mobility assistance rig, he can definitely fulfill the roll of Chief Engineer Boros in my Space Station Zero crew.  In terms of painting this guy, I sprayed him black (leaving the areas that would be metallic black) and I painted his jumpsuit Deathworld Forest, and all the areas that would be industr...

"Art vs. Science" - Dr. Richard Morton - Part 2

Sometime science is more art than science.  - Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty) Hello again and welcome back to The Art of Caesura! We're deep into my crew from Space Station Zero, based on the miniatures from Zombicide Invader. Today it's Dr. Richard Morton AKA Rick Sanchez (from Rick and Morty) AKA Dr. Ilyen Quist, the scientist in my crew.  When I wrote the story about my Space Station Zero crew , I had actually planned Quist as female, inspired by  Tali'Zorah's character from Mass Effect. In preparing this post though, I went back and read my story and I realise that I never actually gendered Quist in the narrative. So this model, clearly based on Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty, still works as the scientist for my crew. Just to remind you of the convoluted history of these miniatures, I painted them soon after they first came out with Zombicide Invader in 2023, but they never quite made it onto the blog. Now, 3 years later, I'm righting that wrong.  I'm really...
