HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE ART OF CAESURA!! Three years old! THREE YEARS OLD!! Can you believe it!? Well maybe you can, but I can barely believe it. When I started this little blog three years ago, I didn't know how long I'd be able to keep the weekly pace up, but here we are, 159 posts later and still going strong!! I have all of you to thank for it. I know it sounds cliché  but being several hours from my nearest hobby centre, you guys are my community, and it's your views and comments that help encourage me to keep striving in my hobby. This is always my favourite post of the year, and I hope you enjoy it too! I love it because it gives us a chance to pause (a caesura within The Caesura), look back over all we've accomplished this past year, and gaze to the fun that lies ahead! Let's start with a fancy visual look at the blog: But what does it all mean? Well, compared to last year, we've diversified a bit. I mentioned last year th

"Burn Baby Burn" - Parvin Khan Bust

The British army never crushed so violent a rebellion as the one that exploded in Bengal province. The insurgents blocked access to the empire’s two vital resources: minerals and tea.   The World of Smog On Her Majesty's Service - CMoN Welcome back to The Art of Caesura! I had to laugh when I was listening to the 2Ps Podcast today. They mentioned how it is all they can do at the moment to not just drop everything else and start painting Blackstone Fortress. Man, I feel that! But rather than flit off to the latest shiny thing, I'm being a good hobby panda and painting my way through The World of Smog: On Her Majesty's Service today. It's fun doing the busts of the good guys (The Gentlemen) of this game because I've already painted their full-body miniatures, so it's nice to get another go at them in a different scale.  When I painted the full-body miniature of Parvin , I struggled with her skin tone, but at the time I could hide

"The Weird Sister" - The Witch

The weird sisters, hand in hand, Posters of the sea and land, Thus do go about, about, Thrice to thine and thrice to mine And thrice again, to make up nine. Peace! The charm’s wound up. Macbeth - Shakespeare Hey Caesurians, welcome back to The Art of Caesura! It's funny, this game (The World of Smog: On Her Majesty's Service) has probably been the most continuous thread throughout my blog over the years. On reflection, it seems like I usually paint them around this time of year too - I guess when the wintery days are short, it's easy to transport oneself into the cold, oppressive Victorian setting of this game. Today we have The Witch! Hidden amongst the common beggars and tattered wretches in the Market's alleys is a bent and hungry hundred-year-old woman, lugging around her amulets and oboe. Nobody suspects her melodies can twist steel and set glass ablaze, making everything around her a deadly trap. In ages past, improvised tribunals con

"Winter Wonderland" - How to Make a Snow Base

In the spring or warmer weather when the snow thaws in the woods  the tracks of winter reappear on slender pedestals  and the snow reveals in palimpsest old buried wanderings,  struggles, scenes of death. Tales of winter  brought to light again like time turned back upon itself. Child of God - Cormac McCarthy Hey guys and gals, welcome to another new year on The Art of Caesura! I thought I would kick off the New Year with something a bit fun and different. In the spirit of a new year, I thought we would bring a model from the past and spruce it up for this wintery season. Welcome back Conan Wolf! At the time , the wolf was the first mini that I painted with my new wet palette, and while I was happy with how he turned out, I had just given him a black "place-holder" base until I got around to figuring out a snow base. Well, the time has come! Buoyed by the confidence of doing all my Kharadron wave bases , a snow base now seemed like small potatoes.  As
