"Biggest and Strongest" - Orc Warboss (Forge World)

The greenskinned Orcs are a brutal and savage species;  hulking, powerful and possessed of a low cunning  often underestimated by their myriad enemies. - Forgeworld Well hello, hello! It's time again for The Art of Caesura! This is a special week and it has been in the pipeline for quite a while now (I actually finished it the day before Hallowe'en so I WAS in time for Orctober!) Anyway, even long term readers may be surprised to hear that my first love in miniatures is all things Greenskin. My first army for Warhammer Fantasy was Orcs and Goblins and I have quite a collection of them (and many more still yet to be painted). I think my main draw to Orcs and Goblins was the diversity of the army; in a time when most armies consisted of ranks and ranks of very similar models (oooh this one has a spear...this one has a great sword...this one has a short sword), the Orcs and Goblins had it all: Giants, squigs, small sneaky goblins, big hulking orcs, awesomely...

"Blow winds! Rage! Blow!" - Knight Incantor (Complete)

Ride the air in whirlwind. John Milton - Paradise Lost Back for more on The Art of Caesura! I hope life is going well, and that you have a nice weekend ahead of you! I'm on holidays at the moment for my birthday, so life is good indeed! If you didn't check out last week's post , I'd urge you to scroll down (or click on the link to the right) and give it an ol' peruse first. Last week we focused mostly on the construction of this guy's base and looked at some work-in-progress shots of painting him. Today we'll look at the finished model.  The fun thing about painting this guy was that I pushed myself to use only colours that I had used on my Arkanauts . But I kind of inverted them. Where the Arkanauts were mostly dark blue armour with copper / brass detailing, this guy has brass armour with dark blue robes.  EPIC! The pale trim of his robes hearkens back to the Ushabti bone under-suits of the Arkanauts. I even manage...

"Gusting Winds and Eldritch Lightening" - Knight Incantor (WiP)

The Knight-Incantor is a gifted stormcaller, able to summon hurricane winds and gales of mystical energy.  Those who  ignite a Knight-Incantor’s wrath  soon find themselves  battling against a living tempest. - Games Workshop It's getting windy out there, so bundle in here to The Art of Caesura! That was fun doing Blood Bowl over the past month - and I still haven't even started painting a full team yet! I do have the Dark Elf team undercoated though, and while I was showing off the bases, you may have noticed a sneak peak at some big guys that will be barreling their way on to my painting table at some point (if they pass their Very Stupid roll that is). Anyway we'll set Blood Bowl aside for now and venture back into the Mortal Realms. I have only painted 2 Stormcast Eternals (the poster-boys for Age of Sigmar), one was the Knight Questor from Silver Tower, and the other was the free Liberator that came with the first "Getting Started" m...

"Back to Bases" - Blood Bowl Human / Elf (Green Field) Bases

Not exactly forgiving when it comes to those Blood Bowl players  smashed and ground against it,  the astrogranite floor of the Reikland Reavers Oldbowl  bears the scars – and bits of skin and teeth –  you’d expect from a legendary stadium  that has seen hundreds of matches played  by thousands of bloodthirsty veterans. - Forge World Aaand we're back for some more Blood Bowl action on The Art of Caesura! Last week we looked at how I make my Orc blood bowl bases (which can happily double for any kind of badlands base). Today it's the humies turn. Obviously this basing style can work well for anyone associated with grassy fields, many "good" armies, for example. As you can see I was basing these guys (and dark elf gals, and ogres and trolls) en masse, so this is a good quick and dirty method! If you joined us last week , you'll see that much of the process is same so I'll reproduce it here to make it more convenient, but there are a ...
