Painting Oathsworn - Chapter 1 - Giant Rats - Part 1

Nobody near me here but rats,  and they are fine stealthy secret fellows. Charles Dickens, The Old Curiosity Shop Greetings Oathsworn! Welcome to The Art of Caesura! I hope you all have a very happy Hallowe'en! If you're up for a bit of Hallowe'en fun, you can try out the Hallowe'en pub quiz I created a few years ago: here And welcome, indeed, to my first Oathsworn painting post. I have had a few other posts on Oathsworn: Into the Deepwood - including my short story submission , a summary of the game and lore , and most recently, the game's arrival - but this is the first one on painting these awesome miniatures.  A quick note before we begin, Oathsworn is full of secrets and mysteries. The models that I'm painting today are the first enemies you face in the game and are not considered spoilers.  So, on we go to the Giant Rats! My plan for these guys was to get them painted to a standard that I was happy with, while devoting the minimum possible amount of time ...

"Denim Thief (Tyranid Genestealer)" - My First Ever Miniature

The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them. ~ Maya Angelou Welcome back to The Art of Caesura! I hope you are all well and that everyone (who wanted them) received their e-mail notifications ( see last week's post if you don't know what I'm talking about ).  Today is a short post, but it's one that's very special: my very first painted minature! Regular readers will know that I was back in Victoria, B.C., Canada recently, bringing my daughters to my home town for the first time. We had a fantastic visit, and one of the things that I brought back with me was a carry case of many of my oldest miniatures.  Now, I must give a little concession here, this isn't actually the very first model I ever painted - that honour would go to the few model aeroplanes and cars that I painted with my dad before this one, but this was my first ever Games Workshop / miniature wargame model! I know it might sound crazy (as it was about 23 years ago - I think I was ar...

Housekeeping: Blog E-mail Subscriptions

Welcome everyone to The Art of Caesura! Today I have a bit of an odd post. From time to time the background workings of the blog come to the foreground and today is such a day.  Last week I mentioned that I have been contacted by multiple readers of the blog saying that for the past few weeks they have not been receiving the e-mail notifications of new weekly blog posts that they had subscribed to (and before that they were receiving e-mails only sporadically for posts for several months).  I have looked into this problem and was surprised that it was much more complicated than I was expecting. It turns out Blogger (owned by Google) used another company (FeedBurner) to manage many blog functions. For reasons that are unclear to me, FeedBurner "turned down" (i.e. began phasing out) some of their functions last year (including e-mail subscription "FollowByEmail", and many of my analytic functions), but they only stopped them altogether recently - hence you guys no lon...

Champion of the Feast (Assault Intercessor Sgt) - Part 3 (Finale)

Hello! Welcome back to your weekly dose of The Art of Caesura! I'm sorry that it was a little late this week, I was travelling internationally (more on that in a future post) and what with time changes and multi-stage travels I got my days all mixed up.  Another apology to those of you who subscribe to receive  e-mails notifying you of my weekly posts. I have been contacted by multiple people saying that for the past few weeks they have not been receiving these. I will have to get on to Blogger about that, and will do my best to remedy it. For those who would like to subscribe to these weekly e-mail reminders, due to these issues, I have currently removed this option, but I will re-instate it when I have the problem sorted. Thanks for your patience.  Today is another showcase! We are looking at my completed Champion of the Feast (Assault Intercessor Sergeant) along with the rest of his squad.  I really love these guys. I think the Sergeant, with his black pauldrons a...
