Casting a soldier takes about 5 minutes.
The process is very easy to pick up
and even children can become
proficient casters in less than an hour.
Welcome back to The Art of Caesura!
This post has been a long time coming, but I was finally given the extra push by a recent TableTop Gaming Podcast which (to my amazement) discussed this very topic!
Today we're talking about a hidden gem in the Irish country side; no, it's not a stone circle (though we have plenty of those), it's a miniatures factory called Prince August!
According to their own website, Prince August began in 1958 in Sweden, moving to Ireland in 1976. Apparently Prince August products are now sold in 24 countries and they are the world's largest suppliers of casting molds.
This is all amazing to me. I first came across them a few years ago. My wife and I always noticed a sign for a "Toy Soldier Factory" way out in the boonies when we would be driving to Cork for our antenatal appointments. One time we decided to go have a look, and lo and behold - out in the middle of nowhere - there was this huge miniatures factory.
They have (apparently) the world's biggest Battle of Waterloo miniatures display, which, even having been to Warhammer World, is quite impressive.
They cast and stock loads of historicals, fantasy and sci-fi models...
A few of which I may or may not have picked up (don't worry I didn't buy all of those below (but I should have)!
It felt like walking back in time in a fun, nostalgic way. Anyway, if you're ever driving between Killarney and Cork in Ireland, pop in for a pleasant surprise!
Here is their website, and this is their Facebook page.
I'll see you next week right here on The Art of Caesura!
