"Easy, Breezy, Beautiful" - Blog New Look

Friends, Romans, and Caesurians, welcome back to The Art of Caesura!

Long time fans might not have recognized the place immediately, but I assure you, you are in the right spot; this is still the Art of Caesura you know and love!

I'm doing some pre-spring cleaning and with the third birthday just past, I thought it was about time to spruce up the blog a bit. I'm always looking for ways to improve The Art of Caesura, and in the past, have created a logo, added a search bar, and re-titled all of my posts to be more descriptive! If you have any other ideas for improvements, please feel encouraged to leave them in the comments section below.

Today is the first of two "behind the scenes" things that I've been wanting to do for a while: the first is to update the look of the blog! The second thing will be the topic of next week's post.

In regards to the "look of the blog," from the get-go I had always wanted a "landing page" for the blog; y'know, like a homepage for a website - when I set up the blog in the first place, I just didn't know how to do it. I think it's a bit more welcoming to first meet an introductory page with tabs on the side to give new-comers a bit of info about what it's all about, and a nice list of recent content to choose from (more inline with how the blog looks on mobile devices).

Currently (as I write this, though previously for you now) when you come to the blog (on PC) you're thrown in in medias res - right in the middle of things - greeted only by the content of the most recent post. For regular attenders (like myself) this is no problem, and may be even kind of handy, but for those just coming upon it, because I cover miniatures from different systems, beer, hiking etc... the first post they meet might give them the wrong idea about what The Art of Caesura is about.

I was looking into how to transfer my blog over to WordPress (but was not looking forward to paying a subscription fee or having minimal storage, and learning to use a whole new interface), when I found that there was a relatively easy way to do it through blogger. Hooray!!

So here it is, sleek and new: The Art of Caesura for the modern world! Some design elements to note in this new layout are: I have kept the red and black colour scheme that was previously present in the bokeh background. I have also created a header in the same style as my logo. I like the almost "comic book" feel of the panels and font, and think that this compliments the nerd themes that are common to this blog. I like that from the landing page you can get an idea of what the post is about: you see a picture and the flavour-text that I always start my posts with.

I'm sure that changing the format will introduce some quirks, but if you (or I) find any, let me know and I'll iron them out ASAP.

Thanks everyone, and I hope you like the new look of The Art of Caesura!

"The Skinny" - Scale 75 Flesh Paint Set Review

The complexion of a light-skinned face  divides into three zones: The forehead has a light golden colour  because it's freer of muscles and surface capillaries. The ears, cheeks and nose all lie within the central zone of the face.  Those areas have more capillaries carrying oxygenated blood near the surface, causing the reddish colour... The zone from the nose to the chin (where there are relatively more veins carrying blue deoxygenated blood) tends toward a bluish, greenish or greyish colour. Some artists accentuated this subtle bluish or greenish hue to bring out the reddish lip colour. Color and Light (page 156) - James Gurney Welcome all to The Art of Caesura! So I finished all the models in Warhammer Quest Silver Tower!! Wooohooo!! Now for something a bit different!  This week I'm going to do something I've never done on the blog before: write a review!! Warhammer 40k for Beginners - Writing an Army List

Hello again good friends of the Caesura! I am glad to report that I am feeling much better than last week, recovered from most of my COVID symptoms. Continuing from last week's post , I'm ready to tell you more about the lists that JP and I took for my first game of Warhammer 40k in over a decade and a half.  I have tried to write this post for those who know very little about playing Warhammer 40k (which was me when I started preparing for this game).  So, I knew that I wanted to keep things straightforward for my first game and that we were playing to 500 points. For those non-warhammerites, this is basically the smallest game you can play - less moving parts to keep track of.  Here is my list again, but this time I will discuss what it all means, and my thought process behind each choice: + Stratagems [-1CP] + Stratagem: Revered Repositories [-1CP] This just means that before the game I used one of my finite resources ("Command Points") to buy a very fancy weapon (
