1889. THE MECHANICAL AND MAGICAL EMPIRE
OF QUEEN VICTORIA RULES THE WORLD.
-CMoN
Welcome welcome welcome to a monumental post on The Art of Caesura!!
Today is a big day for two reasons: it is my last post in our current house (where we've lived for the last two years) and also because it marks the completion of the entire box set of The World of Smog: On Her Majesty's Service!
The very first miniature I painted on this blog (way back in January 2016) was from this game. I have absolutely adored painting these busts. Whenever I approached a hobby rut, or was looking to get back into things after a few weeks off - these were always the go-to models. The larger scale provided a different style of painting, I found them a bit quicker to paint than a full-body miniature, but no less satisfying in their character and detail.
A lady with a flame-thrower, a mechanical Beefeater, a double-amputee with steam-powered prosthetic legs, not to mention an anthropomorphic fox, gas-masked medium and Queen Victoria look-alike with a Gatling Gun. Need I say more?
Above and below we have the Gentlemen (a gender-neutral term for the "good guys" in this game) of the Unicorn Club. You can see that I was using my "Hashut Copper" recipe for Colonel Steel's bust as opposed to the "Screaming Bell" paint for the others.
And below we have the Shadow Master's motley crew, with the man himself front and (relatively) centre. It's always nice digging out models that I painted years ago and setting them beside my more recent attempts.
If you want to have a more detailed look at any of these models there is a specific post for each and every of them! There are too many to link here, but you can find them by perusing the archive to the top right or bunging in a descriptive term (like "creepy clown" or "foxy") into the search bar above. Have a gander!
And, dear readers, if you've enjoyed the creepy alternate-Victorian horror steam punk world of The World of Smog: On Her Majesty's Service, that's great! If you're sad that it's over...don't be! I have the second game in the series (The World of Smog: Rise of Moloch) and have only painted a few of the models from that set so far - so there will be plenty more smog in our futures!
