Don't you wanna know how we keep startin' fires?
It's my desire.

Welcome back to The Art of Caesura!
For almost the past month, I have been in my hometown of Victoria, Canada for my brother's wedding. It was a wonderful event and our trip was a much needed respite from the daily doldrums - to which I have now returned!
Anyway, for a further excursion from the daily grind, let's take a look at today's models: World of Smog's Flaming Zombies!
Last week marked a bit of a return to the miniatures of The Rise of Moloch (the second game under The World of Smog banner). I love dipping back into these models from time to time because they are suffused with such character and paint up very quickly.
I previously painted up the Dismembered Zombies and the Beefeater Zombies, so now it was time for the flaming variety.
I painted all 5 of these guys at once, and for expediency sake, I just kept them all the same colour scheme. So, starting from a zenithal undercoat, I painted them all over with a 1:1 mix of Contrast Space Wolves Grey and Black Templars as you can see in the first image above.
With the base colour in, I re-zenithalled it with a spray of white ink from the direction of the flames (second image from top). I then started working in the flames with the colours you can see above: Contrast Bad Moon Yellow, Baal Red, and then Black Templars for the smokey tips.
I then leaped in with conventional (non-Contrast) paints; highlighting his clothes with The Fang...
...and his skin with Rakarth Flesh. I still didn't feel like the flames were incandescent enough, so I painted in more white ink into the middle of the flames...
...and reapplied a thin coat of Bad Moon Yellow. This gave the vibrancy that I was after.
I painted the last few details (pocket-watch, mouth etc)...
...and multiplied this process by five!
These guys were good fun to paint and a nice excursion from Space Marines.
See you this time next week on The Art of Caesura!
