In Rise of Moloch, archaeologists
have discovered the means
to reanimate dead bodies,
quickly replacing mechanical inventions
with cheap, undead labour,
putting England in dire peril.
- Kickstarter
The result is subtle, but visible.
Their shirts are simply Ushabti Bone shaded with Agrax Earthshade and given a gentle highlight of Ushabti.
And thar she be, five more minions from The World of Smog: Rise of Moloch. Tune in next week for more right here on The Art of Caesura!

Well hello again and welcome to The Art of Caesura!
I hope you and your loved ones are staying well through the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this virus takes up a lot of my professional life, I don't want too much of that to spill over onto my blog. I'll just leave you with the advice to seek reputable sources of information: WHO, CDC / ECDC and your local health authority (Ireland's HSE and Canada's Health Canada for example). Okay, now on to some lads who aren't so healthy...
Last week it was Zombie Royal Guards, this week it's Dismembered Zombies with animated intestines - all par for the course in The World of Smog!
Although I've owned the game for over a year, and have painted a bunch of the individual characters for it, and it's Victorian, steam punk, horror theme is my alley I still haven't played it. At this stage, I might wait until I have the core box contents completed; and so, in that vein...
I started these models from a black undercoat. From here I painted their skin and guts first. For the skin, similar to the Beefeater Zombies, I started with Steel Legion Drab and washed it with a 1:1 mix of Biel-Tan Green and Agrax Earthshade. I then highlighted with Steel Legion mixed with Ushabti Bone.

I initially couldn't decide how dark to go with the guts, but recalling my days in surgery, I opted for a lighter fleshy tone. I started with Cadian Fleshtone, shaded with Druchii Violet and then highlighted with Cadian Fleshtone thinned with Lahmian Medium.

The Reikland Fleshshade one. |
Wanting their clothes to be subtly different, while still keeping to the quick and dirty pace I had set, I painted their jackets and top hats with a neutral grey (Abaddon black + White Scar) I then shaded two of them with Nuln Oil, two of them with Drakenhof Nightshade and, on a whim, one with Reikland Fleshshade. I highlighted them all the same with the original grey mixture then a second (and third) highlight with slightly more white added.

I finished these zombie gents by dotting their eyes with White Scar and then coating their intestines with gloss varnish and then Nurgle's Rot.
