"Feelin' Blue" - Blue Horrors

"Springing forth from slain Pink Horrors in pairs, Blue Horrors are surly grumps, incessantly whining, miserably hurling streams of magical fire as they grouse and grumble" Warhammer Visions, Issue 29 Happy days and welcome back to another week of The Art of Caesura! Most things on this blog are pretty happy. These guys, however, are not! In Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower, there are some big squidgy pink guys called...Pink Horrors, who are really jolly, but super annoying in the game because when you kill one of them he splits into two of these grumpy Blue Horrors. I really want to tie all my Horrors together, chromatically, to emphasize their genealogical connection. Big words to say that I fore-went painting their flames the mystical blues, greens, and blue-greens that I've seen other people do (to great effect) and painted them exactly as I did the little Brimstone Horrors . I painted their tongues the same way (yellow, fading to ashy

"Face o' Tentacles" - The Illuminated

"Brilliance will bring a person great joy, but it is more than a drug. It is a substance formed by the magic of the Hungering Darkness. When a person first gets a taste,  his mind begins to wander and he is left shivering with pleasure..." Malifaux 2E Rulebook Hey Caesurians, welcome home to The Art of Caesura! How did the week treat you? Mine was mighty fine. Summer came to Ireland and we had two days of near 30 degree (Celcius) temperatures!! Gorgeous! Today, we're sticking to Malifaux. After focusing on The Hungering Darkness last week , lets look at one of his buddies: The Illuminated! Okay, I'll come clean...I actually painted this one a while ago but with the crammed schedule of Silver Tower and beer I wanted to hold off so that I could do two weeks of Malifaux in a row.  So, The Illuminated. Basically crack-fiends hooked on the drug that The Hungering Darkness spreads through Jakob Lynch. They've became so hooked that

"Huggy D" - The Hungering Darkness

"Before the Breach opened, there were many powerful creatures, and the Hungering Darkness was one of them, though it had a different name then..." Malifaux 2E Rulebook Hey team, time for another week's The Art of Caesura! Boy, it's been a big week! Two great friends got married (I had the honour of having a wee guitar session at the after-reception), I started another new job - the nature of my work means I start something completely new every 3-6 months which is cool, exciting and a bit daunting for the first week or so. Also our car has been in the shop all week. This last bit is a bit of a shame because my beautiful new beer kit and bottles are at the postal depot, but I can't quite get out there with my bike. Anyway enough life biz. I hope you've all been well, and if not, I hope you get better soon.  So this week we're going back to something that I thought this blog would be much more of ! Malifaux. I really love the minis and l

Who Watches the (Night)watchmen

"No. Not even in the face of Armageddon. Never compromise." Watchmen - Alan Moore Hey friends! Grab a pint and join me for another dram of The Art of Caesura! To follow-up from last week I want to thank you all again for tuning in over the past 6 months. I have a blast posting on here, and am chuffed that you guys come by to read it.  This week's post is a long time coming. It's a continuation from one a while ago - on how my Night Watchman Porter - that I teased you with back in May - turned out. Before I get into the nutty overtones, I just want to plug the first beer that I brewed back in February, Sabre . Okay, plugged.  So when I last told you about Night Watchman it had been merrily fermenting for 2 weeks and, according to the specific gravity reading (of 1.012 - I wanted it to be 1.009), still wasn't finished. I intended to check again a few days, maybe a week later, but life happened and it was another two weeks before I managed to check

Any Excuse for a Celebration...

"A caesura,  also written  cesura, is a complete pause - " Oxford English Dictionary Happy Canada Day you hosers and welcome back to The Art of Caesura eh?! I hope that you've all had great weeks and that you're all guzzling maple syrup! Excitingly, I'm getting married almost exactly a year from now but unexcitingly (though unsurprisingly) the weather in Ireland right now is crap - so hopefully it's better next year! In other exciting news The Art of Caesura is half a year old! If this blog were a human he would have doubled his birth-weight, be able to sit up unsupported (like a champ), do that cute baby babble and he'd just be starting to get a bit of stranger anxiety. I know it may not sound like much, but lest we forget: he'd also be cute as hell! I do not own this picture (or baby) Likewise, 6 months of blogging may not sound like much but I'm going to pat myself on the back anyway for maintaining an entry every single
