Hello fellow Caesura lovers, welcome back to The Art of Caesura!

If it's Reichbusters, it's unheimlich and we certainly have another group of creepy minis to show you today: the Augen!

The expansion for Reichbusters is (awesomely) called "Not of this Earth!" and it seems to involve going through a portal to another planet / dimension; one infested with creepy, vril-infused alien creatures.

In the world of the game there is a larger bestial alien, who we are sure to see featured on the blog at some stage, called the Augenmutter (the Augen Mother) who is completely blind, but the little guys featured today act as her eyes. Super cool.

You all know by now how batch painting isn't my greatest source of joy, so I wanted to pump these little lads out smartly.

From a base coat of Grey Seer I applied an undiluted coat of Contrast Skeleton Horde.

I then drybrushed Wraithbone with a large brush over the whole thing except the "face" (an anatomical descriptor that I use in the loosest possible sense).

Next, I applied a lighter drybrush of White Scar over the most prominent areas.

By now, as is wont to happen with layered drybrushing, he was beginning to look a little chalky. To cut the chalk, I applied a wash of 1:4 Athonian Camoshade : Contrast medium on the body and I washed the face and legs with 1:4 Contrast Black Templar : Contrast medium.

All that remained was to paint his eyes in the same manner as I've been painting all of the Vril effects across these miniatures (Yriel Yellow, Troll Slayer Orange, Evil Sunz Scarlet)...

...and complete his base with lots of nice enamel washes!
