I've been niggling my hobby friends to jump into the trenches pretty much since the Trench Crusade Kickstarter ran almost 2 years ago, but with the announcement and subsequent launch of the Carcass Front and the global campaign that's running at the moment , my fervour grew to a frenzied pitch and I redoubled my efforts.  Just to be clear, it's not that they weren't keen, it's just that life is busy and they hadn't taken the plunge...until now! Two of my daughters have their birthdays in August, and school starts back (my middle daughter is just starting "big school" this year). So things have felt like a whirlwind for the past couple of months.  Anyway, let us now turn our attention to these (not so) good lil' boys. We're deep in the trenches now! We've been looking at my Cult of the Black Grail warband over the past couple of weeks and today we're going to look at one of the speediest members of the crew: The Black Grail Hounds.  Before we get started, I'll just address the elephant(iasis) in the room: I don't know what is up with their gigantic ball bags! I've looked it up (with regret), and I just dunno - I can't really find any reference as to why plague dogs would have enormous scrotums. So ...

Last week we looked at the first Trench Crusade miniatures that I've showcased on the blog: the horrible Black Grail Thralls. Those minis also laid the groundwork for how I paint all of the skin on my Black Grail guys.  Well, this week's post is equally foundational; today we're looking at how I'm making all of my Black Grail bases.  Before we get into the painting, I'll just say that I got these STLs off a Kickstarter by the designer SRS-studios and I 3D printed them myself. Judging by the blues and purples on the Kickstarter image, I think they were designed to be Tzeentch bases, but I actually think, with the appropriate colour-scheme, they work perfectly for these Black Grail guys! Welcome back to The Art of Caesura Today, we're picking up immediately where we left off last week ...well, almost immediately, first I just want to say a big Happy Birthday to my eldest daughter, Saoirse, who turned 7 yesterday. This totally doesn't feel like an appropriate post to be affiliated with her birthday so we'll keep her birthday in the physical world and leave these little horrors in the virtual one.  As always, to hear me blether on about how I painted these guys, you can check out last week's post .  Unfortunately the dude above didn't get a nice base to walk on - it got lost somewhere in the printing process, but I shall print him another one at some point.  All the other guys did get bases, however, between last week's post and today.
